Overview

WildBrain Studios is looking for a Lead Compositor to join our team! 
 
We’re searching for Compositors to help bring one of our productions to its utmost potential! As a Lead Compositor, you will be responsible for constructing the final image by combining layers of FX, animation and background elements into a final composite shot as per each shot’s requirements. This role will report to the Producer.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Creating and compositing digital FX, highlights and tones within the current compositing pipeline 
  • Collaborating with the team to achieve consistent and high quality results 
  • Managing renders and setting up shots technically 
  • Integrating all layers including animation and environment to create the final shots 
  • Ensuring and maintaining the expected quality, style and schedule across the production 
  • Meeting production deadlines and maintaining regular communication with leads and supervisors 
  • Collaborating with other team members to improve methods, workflows and techniques 
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting common technical issues 
  • Identifying and reporting any issues that arise that may affect timelines or delivery schedules 

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • You are efficient, proactive and detail oriented 
  • You have the ability to take direction, be flexible and embrace change 
  • You can communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a professional and positive manner 
  • You have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure 


 
Nice to have: 

  • 1-3 years of experience in the animation or film industry 
  • Solid understanding of compositing, lighting, shading, colour and rendering 
  • Strong sense of design and shot composition 
  • Previous experience in lighting and/or compositing in episodic TV or feature film animation 
  • Proficiency in Harmony is preferred
     
      

   
This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.

Pay Range: Union minimum $1151 - $1500 for role, per week based on a 40-hour work week. 
 
Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
