WildBrain Studios is looking for an Animation Supervisor, CG (Feature) to join our team!
Reporting to Animation Director and Producer, the Animation Supervisor will oversee and support the animation crew in achieving the creative vision of the Director(s) and client(s) in accordance with the production schedule.

What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with the Animation Director(s), and other Supervisor(s) to ensure the quality and style of the project is maintained in accordance with the project schedule
- Guides the creative and technical vision/expectations for the team members, participating in animation launch meetings and hosting live reviews to deliver timely notes
- Review all animation and revisions prior to submitting work to the Director(s) and client(s)
- Supervise animation within assigned scene(s) or sequence(s), while guiding and inspiring the crew to create their best work within the project deadlines
- Contributes to the overall craft and development of team members through setting expectations, delivering consistent constructive feedback, recognition, and accountability
- Animatic review(s) - Provide solutions to production management and the animation leadership to ensure the project(s) stays within project scope.
- Provides regular updates to direct leader on the progress, health, and direction of the team
- Responsible for balancing the distribution of work to the animation leadership and crew (casting)
- Contributes to department processes, animation bidding within assigned sequence(s) and supporting the Animation Director during director review(s)
- Work closely with the character assets teams and animation leadership to help create high functioning art directed character rig(s) to show standards
- Delegate rig and development work amongst the team to ensure rigs are production ready
- Engage in and support the creation of crowd animation cycles, poses, and library requirements in partnership with the crowd artists/leads/animation team
- Partner with production management and the animation leadership to make sure artists are on track to complete shots on time and to show standards
What You’ll Bring:
- 2+ years of animation leadership experience in a similar role, working in feature production
- Proficient in CG animation packages (Maya)
- Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, acting, and body mechanic principles and techniques
- Strong understanding of key-framed animation development processes, limitations, and dependencies
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Models and fosters a collaborative work environment between individuals on the team and across departments
- Identifies solutions and compromises in partnership with the other supervisor(s).
- Keeps the team informed with context for show related changes and updates
- Creates an inclusive and safe work environment by carefully managing sensitive information, making rooms feel open and comfortable, creating space for everyone to have a voice and addressing bias when it occurs
- Actively involved in assessment, casting, hiring, and overall growth of artists
This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.
Pay Range: $1900 - $3,365 CAD per week based on a 40-hour work week.
Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
