WildBrain Studios is looking for an Episodic Director to join our team!
Reporting to the Producer, in this position you are responsible for carrying the Series Director’s creative vision throughout animation. You will also collaborate with the Series Director in storyboards, lighting, and FX meetings and reviews as needed. You will supervise and collaborate with the Animation Lead to ensure storytelling and performance are maximized through out these phases of the production. This role will report to the Producer.

What You'll Do:
- Create a Shooting Guide for each episode based on the creative hand off from the Series Director
- Follow approved direction throughout episode, and discuss any changes needed with Series Director
Provide feedback and direction to Animation Leads and animators ensuring character performance is being hit - Run shot hand offs with Animators
- Assign Animation tasks and enter in Shotgun any notes/direction needed for Artists to start their work
- Review all Animation submissions from artists, providing feedback when needed
- Work collaboratively with Editor ensuring the edit is working throughout the episode
- Document and communicate any and all audio pickups which may be required
- Review Series Director and Client notes on Animation Animatics and propose solutions to ensure their direction is reflected on any material being sent out
- Raise any creative or production issues as they arise to Series Director and/or Production team
- Attend Lighting and FX Hand Off to Supervisors, making sure the direction is clear for both departments
What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a directorial position
- Excellent understanding of animation timing and posing
- Familiarity with CG animation and the strengths and weaknesses of CGI animation
- Knowledge of storytelling principles and techniques
- Strong sense of story and structure
Excellent planning and management skills - Ability to communicate processes, plans and concepts effectively
- Ability to create entertaining and persuasive messages
- Ability to work in teams/small groups
- Ability to identify and manage different needs of individuals, groups, etc.
- Ability to present specific viewpoints and influence others
This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.
Pay Range: $1993 - $2400, CAD per week based on a 40-hour work week.
Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
