Senior Accountant

Overview

WildBrain is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team!

 

In this role, you will report to the Controller, WildBrain Studios, and will be responsible for overseeing audit preparation, managing production company year-end compilations, and supporting the delivery of accurate financial information across the organization.

 

As part of our Content Creation business unit, you will support and collaborate with stakeholders across WildBrain’s Vancouver Studio, House of Cool in Toronto, and WildBrain’s Digital Studio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, creative environment and is eager to contribute to the financial success of a global animation leader.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

 

What you’ll do:

  • Operate with a high level of independence while keeping senior management informed of progress, emerging issues, and potential risks
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of auditor requests, including:
    • CRA audits (primarily for tax credits and GST)
    • Client-driven audits
    • PWC financial audits
  • Prepare comprehensive year-end financial packages for external accounting firms in support of T2 filings for WildBrain’s various production companies
  • Prepare package for the statutory audit of the UK Production Company performed by external auditors.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Act as a key liaison with WildBrain’s internal tax team
  • Cross-train to serve as a back-up for vacation coverage for other accounting team functions

 

 

What you’ll bring:

  • CPA designation with strong technical accounting expertise is required
  • Experience at a large public accounting firm, including preparation of compilation engagements for T2 filings 
  • Hands-on experience responding to auditors or working directly in audit 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational strength, and the ability to take initiative, prioritize workloads, and adapt quickly within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; able to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, data analysis tools)

 

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Movie Magic / Smart Accounting considered a strong asset
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Great Plains preferred

Why WildBrain

 

 

Pay Range:

$85,000 to $100,000 CAD annually based on a 40-hour work week.

Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
