What You'll Do:
Craft a diverse array of visual effects that range from realistic to highly imaginative.
Collaborate with the FX Supervisor and artists from all departments to construct creative solutions for the recurring visual effects in a production.
Build and support rigs and tools used by other artists to generate effects that are easily consumable by other departments across many shots.
Be proactive in identifying and communicating any issues that could potentially affect timelines, quality, or delivery schedules.
Work in an efficient manner to address creative notes on shots or support tools used by other artists.
Adhere to the studio’s established pipeline processes and carry out duties in a professional and positive manner
Work with the leadership of the Effects department to design and achieve the creative and technical objectives of a production
Optimize FX for performance, scalability, and shot continuity while maintaining artistic quality.
Troubleshoot technical issues and propose durable solutions for FX workflows, tools, and pipelines.
Document FX setups and workflows to ensure consistency and support team knowledge.
What You'll Bring:
3+ years of Houdini FX experience in animation or film or game industry
Experience creating highly stylized/non-photorealistic effects - experience with stylized explosions, smoke, dust/debris is a strong asset
Production experience on a feature animated film or similar project is preferred
Experience building FX rigs and tools used by multiple artists in a production
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a team to meet production timelines
Encouraging attitude towards feedback and new initiatives
Experience with scripting languages such as VEX and Python
Experience with Shotgun is an asset
This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.
Pay Range:
$1545 - $2000 CAD per week based on a 40-hour work week.
Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
