Overview

WildBrain Studios is looking for a Show TD to join our team! 
 
In this role you will help research, develop and support the technical aspects of production, working closely with artists across all departments and the pipeline team to keep show workflows running smoothly. This role will report to the Producer & CG Supervisor.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the overall process and improvement of the production pipeline across all departments

  • Serve as a first line of support, firefighting day-to-day pipeline issues across departments

  • Proactively find and communicate any challenges faced in production to the CG and Pipeline Supervisor

  • Liaise with artists and the CG Supervisor to ensure production support and workflow needs are met

  • Develop and maintain show-level tools and Python APIs to support production and streamline artist workflows

  • Work within version-controlled environments (Git) to manage, share and maintain show tools and code

  • Help troubleshooting pipeline issues across key DCCs, and communicate any technical issues to Pipeline and the CG Supervisor, if necessary

  • Collaborate closely with Pipeline TDs to align show tools with global pipeline standards and workflows

  • Educate, mentor and support artists regarding pipeline workflow and best practices

  • Communicate regularly with the Pipeline team to ensure global pipeline workflows are used

  • Identify any critical path issues and assist in developing new process and innovative solutions to optimize the flow of the global production pipeline

  • Work in expanding our USD pipeline with tooling and automations

  • Build UIs around pipeline tools.

  • Create and update documentation explaining our pipeline process and tools

  • Use time management skills to schedule tasks effectively

  • Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in a feature animation or visual effects production environment

  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting and debugging skills

  • Strong understanding of 3D workflows across the full production lifecycle

  • Solid working knowledge of industry-standard DCCs, including Maya, Gaffer, Houdini, Nuke, Substance Painter and Designer.

  • Experience developing in Python, including building and maintaining tools and APIs

  • Comfortable working inside version control systems such as Git

  • Ability to work effectively alongside Pipeline TDs and cross-department teams

  • Able to work on backend tools as well as frontend

  • USD knowledge is required


Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with Deadline or other farm/render management solution is a big plus
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ is a benefit
  • Experience in production databases is a benefit

 

This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement. 

 

Why WildBrain

Pay Range:

$1875 - $2100 CAD per week based on a 40-hour work week.

Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
